How to Create Your Own Temporary Tattoo

Tattoos are quite common and it seems that people continue to spend the money to get a tattoo. Some people may feel tattoos are somewhat fashionable and therefore choose to display tattoos on one or more parts of the body.

There is an alternative to tattoos. You can easily make your own tattoo with a few simple and inexpensive items. One advantage to making your own tattoo is that it will not alter your skin in any way.

First, you can make your own tattoo by using three to four colored eye brow pencils. Eye brow pencils are the best option because they are not toxic to the skin. In addition, a temporary tattoo will wash off quite easily.

You may also use stencils to trace a particular object. If you use stencils you should begin by tracing the outline of the stencil with a black eye brow pencil. Once you trace the outline of the stencil you can then begin to color the inside of the object that you traced with different color eye brow pencils.

For example if you used a heart stencil you may wish to color the interior of the heart with a red or orange eye brow pencil. Hand made tattoos can be made to look like the real thing. In addition, keep in mind a home made tattoo is much less expensive and it can be removed at any time.

Volcano Egg Dyeing

I was trying to find something new and fun to do with my eggs this Easter because my kids are bored just dipping them in bowls of food coloring year after year. Since their science fair just got done we had plenty of baking soda and vinegar laying around the house when I ran across this article. I couldn’t help myself, I had to give it a try immediately.

What do you know, it actually worked! My kids had so much fun watching the bubbling off the egg that they actually started looking up why baking soda and vinegar react the way they do and why it creates a foaming mess. My kids actual got some educational experience through dying an egg. All these years of science fair volcanoes and they never had an interest in actually figuring out what causes the chemical reaction until they had a reason to apply the same reaction to another setting. The eggs even tasted just as good as any other dyed egg.

It looks like my family now has a new Easter tradition for dying eggs.

How to Paint a DIY Checkerboard Coffee Table

Beautiful Hexagon Afgan

Whether you consider the finished product to be an optical illusion or a beautiful work of art, a stunning hexagon afgan will certainly draw in the eye and become the focal point of your living room or den. Budding artists who enjoy playing with colors are sure to feel inspired from this activity. A tapestry of shades dances across the surface of this blanket trimmed in white. When the temperatures dip below the freezing point and snow leaps to the ground, you’ll be glad that you took the time to craft this clever piece. Plan a ladies night where all the girls make their own, or try this out with your kids on a rainy weekend.

DIY Instagram Photo Blocks

I found this project, and decided to do it. This was super easy, since I had most of the materials on hand, and more than enough time to devote to it. I used 1×2 scraps, and painted mine in different colors. I grouped them in groups of three, and set them out on book shelves, and anywhere else you could put knick-knacks. I even have a couple of these on my desk at work, too. I love these, and they are super easy to make. I recommend this project to anyone who wants a fun way to display photos, and create fun conversation starters. I plan to make a whole bunch more of these in the next few months.

DIY Lace Slip-on Sneakers

When I found this tutorial, I was skeptical. When I did a little more research I realized it was an excellent way to create a pair of shoes that look like they were made by a high end designer, but cost quite a bit less. I made these exact shoes, and love them. My friends all asked me where I got them, and I told them. Some of them made the shoes for themselves, and a couple asked me to make them for them. I made them pairs of these shoes because it was so easy! Everyone loves these and I would certainly recommend this tutorial to anyone who wants to wear designer shoes, but want to cut costs!
